The Wedding Games of Nauseous Whitmorus

Greetings and felicitations, and welcome back to the Ludus Scutum Quercu, it is I, Dubious, the camp slave, who shall be your guide. Oh yes! Oh Missus!  Stop messing about... Oh, suit yourselves. .. The Prologue Nausius, sensitive son of Senator Quintus Whitmorus, has wed Lascivia the daughter of Senator Ludicrous Pompous.  As a dedication of the marriage a series of Gladiatorial bouts have been arranged between our Ludus and the Ostian Peakus Blindus Ludus.  Gangsters the lot of them. The bride to be, Lascivia, personal vetted all of the Gladiators involved.  Even the female ones.  She is keen! My master, Biggus Brutus has decided to try his luck in Ostia again.  Things have quietened down following the great scandal of a few months ago.  Flouring a chimp and using dwarf gladiators to make it look like a great ape seemed such a good idea at the time.  The Thracian Lanista Fartakiss is still annoyed about the chimp! On with the games.....

Beware the Ides of November!

Kalends, November 218 AD Well it seemed like a plan. Just goes to show - don't make business decisions after several pots of un-watered Falernian red. Proximo's boys had performed reasonably well at last month's events; well enough to think of entering the big festival at Rome. It was November and the Ludi Plebeii was coming up. What could possibly go wrong? Or was that just the wine talking? After his recent successes, Proximo now had some coin and could choose between some Ludus upgrades or perhaps entering the festival; he chose the latter. Reviewing his gladiators, Proximo wasn't entirely happy with Androcles; the hoplomachus had lost his last bout and obviously needed more experience. Ostentatio was his most experienced fighter but Proximo had a hunch that he had been lucky in his last fight.
