An Argument of Senators

Greetings and felicitations, and welcome back to the Ludus Scutum Quercu, and Dubious, the camp slave, your guide!

Oh Missus!  Stop messing about...

Oh, suit yourselves. ..

The Prologue

Senator Quintus Whitmorus, has once again annoyed Senator Ludicrous Pompous, suggesting that the elderly statesmans last speech in the Senate allowed the members to get a few hours sleep.  A series of Gladiatorial bouts has been arranged between these two to sort out the argument, with our Ludus championing the House of Quintus.  Old Pompous gets the Ludus Fartakiss and it's it's second rate  collection of has-beens.

Thracian Lanista Fartakiss, my master's great enemy is still annoyed about the chimp buisness.  My master has promised all new exciting animals, and especially a magnificent silverback gorilla to impress the crowd.

"Dubious, find me a gorilla," he shouted...

On with the games.

The condemned criminal Maximus Lardus faces the Ostriches... Oh dear I know how this goes...

He runs forward, the Ostriches run off...

Amazingly the Ostriches make an error and he gets a single round to attack, good hits but he fails to make a kill.

By turn eight he almost gets one!

Maximus Lardus is kept out.  Two Noxii are sent against him.

He wrong foots them and bludgeons the quick one.

He wins a critical two on one round
One down, dead meat.

He batters the last one down too, but is at a single vitality remaining.

A quick round of avoid the bear...

Two of our Noxii survive

And... Oh no, is it?  Biggus Brutus releases his "Great Ape..."  The Retarius looks bemused.  Isn't that just another floured chimp?

But the Chimp is apparently Mighty.  The Retarius, is done for..

Alas, in the enquiry that followed it was discovered that the chimp was actually a dwarf gladiator in a floured chimp costume.  Disqualified...

And it's Balinus the Secutor vs Flavius, a Retarius

Flavius tries the old switch and net tactics.

But a sustained Secutor is also mighty.  Win for the Ludus...

The headline act. Marcus Jaggerus vs Gillianus the Villainus...

A proper brawl

Gillan gets a knock down

But Jaggerus is back up, nobody moves like Jagger

It's really close.  Gillianus slightly ahead...

And it goes eight rounds.  Gillianus wins...  Gillan was not caught sleeping on the job and is now clearly a child in time!  Actually Jagger was shown that he could not in fact get what he wanted. ..

To close, I will quote from the last words of Cleopatra to Mark Antony: if you liked it, tell your friends. Salute!
